about

Recorded last year on analogue reel to reel tape at Sound Recordings in Campbells Creek, VIC, Big City Streets nails an authentic rock 'n' roll-infused, honky tonk saloon shuffle that tumbles out the door and into a heady sing-along of a chorus. As songwriter Nick Armstrong explains, "The song is about moving to a major city from a small one. Specifically, it was inspired by my experience moving to London as a 20 year old from Auckland."

"Musically, it draws heavily on my country and western influences such as Gram Parsons, Daniel Romano and Buck Owens, with a harder rock and roll edge inspired by the likes of Bruce Springsteen or The Rolling Stones (think 'Far Away Eyes', 'Sweet Virginia')," Nick reveals. "When we played it with the band we played around with a nice interplay between Jack and Chris's country-style picking, which gives the song that feeling of longing for your small hometown."

about

Sin City Auckland, New Zealand

Sin City are a pack of bar-crawling crooners who found themselves quarantined in a sleazy flat in Alicante, Spain with only a guitar and piano. In a haze of beer, gin, rum, red wine and hamburgers they wrote and recorded a vast collection of songs based on their love for Mink Deville, Gram Parsons, Glen Campbell, Phil Spector, Van Morrison and various country, soul and rock n roll records. ... more
